WHO is this blog written for?

The small business service provider.  The web designer, the graphics guy, the coder nerd.  The artist, the journalist, the marketing guru.  Everyone who has put a stake in the ground…….I will not “work for the man” any longer.  You call yourself a freelancer, a consultant, an entrepreneur, a small business owner.  The titles are insignificant compared to your drive to be independent and successful.   Everyday is different for you.  New customers, new ideas, new projects…………new challenges.   Most days you meet these challenges head on.  Sometimes you feel a bit overwhelmed and alone.

WHY does this blog exist?

www.thebusinessofservice.org exists to serve you.  This is a place where you can take a step back from the daily chore of fulfilling on customer requests.  The place where you can get ideas to help you strategize about your business.  We focus on the “game of business.”  Winning the “game”, means growing your income and net worth.  Winning means being able to go on vacation.  Winning means the power to have choices in life.  Winning the game of business means living a better life.

All of the posts and topics presented are fundamental to people who are in business for themselves. Most of us entered our business with a specific skill that the market values.  Design, coding, marketing, writing.  At some point you came to the realization that these skills were not enough to create a successfulbusiness.  You encountered the need for other skills…..business skills.  Marketing, finance, negotiation, sales.  Some of these came easily to you.  Some you struggle with.  www.thebusinessofservice.org is a place where you can gain practical applications.  More importantly, it is a place where you can learn specific actions to take.  We will stay away from theory.  We will focus on action.
