Scott Miller, a life-long entrepreneur, is passionate about sharing his experiences on running B2B service businesses. Scott owns a B2B service business, consults with other owners, teaches entrepreneurship, and writes about it at www.thebusinessofservice.org.
Scott began the entrepreneurial life at an early age, cutting grass and painting houses. After graduating from Miami University (OH) with a degree in Accountancy, Scott worked at ComputerLand, at that time, the nation’s largest supplier of PCs to business. While at ComputerLand, Scott started his own “business within a business,” providing hands-on training for spreadsheet and word processing software to Fortune 1000 accounts.
In 1990, Scott founded the Treadstone Group. Treadstone started as a one person operation (Scott) and grew to become one of the Midwest’s largest providers of consulting and implementation services for ERP software. Scott’s customers were businesses with annual revenues of $2-50 million.
In 2004, Scott sold Treadstone to Exact Software, a Dutch, multi-national software company with revenues of over 300 million EUR. Shortly after the sale, Scott formed Crew Software, a company that delivers professional services for Microsoft Dynamics customers. Scott sold this business in 2009.
Scott is an adjunct professor at Miami University where he teaches the capstone course in entrepreneurship, New Venture Creation. Scott recently founded the Miami Redhawk Hatchery, which gives select students the opportunity to launch a business venture while at Miami.
Scott sits on the board and compensation and audit committees of Paycor, Inc., the nation’s largest privately held provider of payroll and HR services.
